Cosmic Pueo Pin // Hawaiian Short-Eared Owl Pin
A charm for guidance, protection, sharing and absorbing knowledge.
Pueo is the Hawaiian name for the short-eared owl found on all main Hawaiian Islands. This large bird is most active at crepuscular periods of the day (dawn and dusk). It is considered to be an aumakua (guardian spirit) in Hawaiian culture - if you’ve spotted this iconic bird in the wild, you will know that you have witnessed something very special.
This pin depicts a Pueo soaring through open night sky at a crepuscular time of day. The moon phases frame the illustration - Pueo activity is thought to correlate with the moon calendar.
