Māmaki // Pipturus albidus

Māmaki is a culturally significant plant native to the Hawaiian Islands. Part of the Nettle Family, it is only found and grown in Hawai'i.

This beloved plant has been treasured for centuries by kānaka maoli and in Lāʻau lapaʻau (traditional healing) as an ingredient in preventative and curative medicinal treatments.

Easily grown in a backyard garden, steep leaves into a tea used to aid one's overall wellness: digestive support and relief of fatigue, insomnia and stress among other ailments. Though, it is worth growing just for the fact that it is the Pulelehua's (Kamehameha Butterfly) host plant!
