Ka‘ōhao, Kailua Post Stamp Pin
Located on the Windward side of O‘ahu, Ka’ōhao Beach is most commonly known as the misnomer “Lanikai” - this grammatically incorrect name was invented in the 1920’s
Pictured here are Nā Mokulua - two islets located just off the coast of Ka’ōhao. They are part of the Hawai‘i State Seabird Sanctuary. Both islets are home to ‘Ua‘u Kani (Wedge-tailed Shearwaters) for nesting.
The plant represented on this card is Pōhuehue which is an indigenous prostrate vine seen growing on Ka’ōhao sand dunes
This pin is part of our stamp collection.
